Supportive Parents

Service review and development of an operational plan (2018)

From July to December 2018 we worked closely with the Bristol-based charity Supportive Parents to help them review their current information, advice and support (IAS) service to children/young people with SEND and their parents/carers. In consultation with the charity’s staff, trustees, service users and local authority commissioners, we developed a detailed service review report which identified successes, challenges and future priorities, an operational plan for 2019-20, and a set of 15 funding bids for seeking further resources for the IAS service.

Scoping work to explore the implementation of ‘Independent Support’ within the context of Supportive Parents’ current Parent Partnership Service (2014)

In 2014 we were commissioned by the Bristol-based charity Supportive Parents to explore the implementation of ‘Independent Support’, a new government initiative under the Children and Families Act. The work involved online survey work with disabled children and parents, face-to-face interviews with senior policy makers, focus groups with families of disabled children, documentary review and analysis, data analysis and reporting. The final report was published in June 2014 on Supportive Parents’ website – it is no longer available online but please ask us if you’d like to see a copy.
